The_task

Unify all Howard Johnson International hotel web sites in China on one easy-to-use backend platform. Create a brand conforming web design that will assure a consistent look and feel. Build a set of web sites that represent the high standard of Howard Johnson International’s China hotels.

The_approach

We built an information architecture that included the Howard Johnson International brand, its five brand tiers for China, as well as individual hotels.
The web design we created integrates all sites under the Howard Johnson brand umbrella. However,  it also creates a distinction between the different brand tiers and leaves room for individual hotels to add their promotional content.
On one platform, the same set of templates is used for all sites.

The_solution

All hotel web sites can now be easily recognized as being part of the Howard Johnson International brand. Brand recognition is additionally supported by using the same structure and navigation for all sites.
Maintenance is made very easy, because only some key information needs to be replaced for each hotel. On the other hand, hotels can easily administer their seasonal specials and promotions. Final control lies with the Howard Johnson corporate headquarters, which can supervise all sites.
There are 22 hotels already launched. The system easily allows for the addition of more sites.
